Ohhh... Luke! :-)

Currently we spend every morning playing with a hair dryer. He crawls to one and drags it out to the living room where he then insists I play with him and the hair dryer. He loves to for me to pretend it's on and make silly noises. It's an obsession until he forgets about it. He has enjoyed playing with the hair dryer ever since he watched Ms. Julie style my hair. He also likes to play with the shower head when it's on, as Ms. Julie let him play with that at the salon as well.

He also enjoys brushing Emily and I's hair. He will brush our hair for hours if we let him. He's so proud of himself. And loves bedtime as he can now give hugs and kisses, and even blow kisses. He loves to say good night to his sissy now that he can give her affection. He does the same to me when I'm putting him down for the night. It's very sweet.

More coming soon.

Luke is a Determined Climber

This evening Luke was determined he was going to get his way and play with the computer after several failed attempts to play with the keyboard. I had just told him, "no," for the fourth time while Emily and I were looking at backpack colors online... and before I knew what had happened, Luke was in my lap banging on the keyboard. The boy literally scaled up the chair and climbed into my lap, sad down and began typing. I couldn't believe it. He will do all of that but will only sneak in a step or two every other day or so. What a silly boy we have. He is so capable, but not determined enough to walk.

Also, if sissy fails to close the bathroom door, we find him on the top step of the step stool, playing in the sink. If she fails to close her bedroom door, we find him in the closet playing with the Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head toys and accessories. And... if she brings her step ladder into the house (from the back porch) to reach something in the kitchen and fails to put it back, we find Luke climbing up the ladder to reach the countertop himself.

So, Keith and I have decided that we now know who those climbing walls were designed for... kids like Luke! Perhaps his bedroom, in a couple of years, will have a wall climbing theme for all to enjoy when they visit!

What Else is New???

Luke is getting his fifth tooth (and sixth as of 08/25/07), on the bottom to the left of his bottom two teeth. He likes to sweep and mop the kitchen floor. He frequently opens the cupboard doors that he can reach on the floor to remind us daddy hasn't placed locks on them. He loves to put our shoes on (or at least try). He loves to hold dolls or animal figures up to our face while growling at us. He loves to play 'telephone' with his hand or any random object in the house that he can hold up to his ear. He frequently has a lot to say... we just can't understand him. He has learned how to knock on windows or doors when trying to get attention from someone on the other side. He loves to play peek a boo with sissy under doors. He loves to type on the computer and play with the mouse. He LOVES to change the ring tone on mommy's phone and somehow always puts it back to one particular tone.

Emily is becoming less tolerant of little brother getting into her things. She frequently test Luke's boundaries of tolerance as well. She now ends her prayers with something a little different using 'blessing' in different ways and then asks us what it means afterwards. She is also quick to tell us or others if she hears or sees something that is not appropriate for her. She is also full of song and dance for Jesus.

As I think of more things I will add them.

Thanks for reading... and enjoy the previous posts (especially our vacation) below.

First Steps/Walking... ???

On June 22nd, Daddy and Mommy watch Luke take his first step/partial step as he transitioned from a chair to the desk.

On June 28th, Nan witnessed Luke taking a step from the coffee table.

Today, Emily and Mommy watched Luke take a step in Emily's room.

So, he's 14 months old now... and perhaps he will finally gain the courage to walk. He frequently see him stand up without the aid of any props, balance himself for a bit and then drop to the ground to begin crawling again. We'll get there, just have to be patient.
