You Are My Princess... Daddy-Daughter Dinner Dance

Keith and Emily attended their first Daddy-Daughter Dinner Dance together on Keith's 36th birthday. Emily was so excited and LOVED her new dress! Enjoy the pictures. Stories will be added once they return from their evening out.

~Prayer for a Daughter~
I am sending you out like sheep amoung wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. -Matthew 10:16
Lord,
You've blessed my daughter Emily with a sweet, guileless, and giving nature. What a gift she is to our family!
She's a tender lamb, a harmless dove, but look at the world we're in Lord Jesus! My prayer today is that You will keep her spirit from hurt and harm. Mature her so that her tenderness doesn't render her gullible or foolish (Hos. 7:11).
Bless her with a beautiful strength, a wise innocence, shielded vulnerability (1 Pet. 3:4-5). How much You could nurture, heal, comfort, and encourage others through such gifts, Lord!
Bring her a husband in Your time who will cherish her, honor her, and protect her for exactly these wonderful qualities.
For her whole life, I claim these truths for her from Psalm 91: You will be her true dwelling place and refuge (vs. 1-2); under Your wings she will find covering and comfort (v. 4); You will save her from terrors and fears (v. 5); You will give You angels power to guard her (vs. 11-13); You will protect her from physical and spiritual diseases (v. 6); You will answer her when she calls, because You love her (v. 15).
Yes, Lord, You will always treasure her even more than I do. I thank You and bless You!
Amen

~Above Every Name~
He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6
Dear Lord God,
Thank You that Your name is above every name:
You are our Wonderful Counselor. Your wisdom has been the foundation of all creation, yet it makes sense for my daughter today. May my daughter herar Your voice in her inner ear. "This is the way. Walk in it." Thank You for taking pleasure in being this kind of God.
You are our Mighty God. We stand amazed before You today, our faces beaming with delight but with only limited comprehension, all because of one single reality: You are an awesome and powerful God! You are the only authority worthy of worship, and we do praise You.
You are our Everlasing Father. We are always Your children (Mom and Dad, too) - Your closest of kin! Until the end of time Your will be my daughter's protector. You are always the one who knows and understands her best. Thank You that You always provide the affection, comfort, and fatherly encouragement she needs the most.
You are the Prince of Peace. Your very presence brings peace to my daughter. Your power surrounds her with a mantle of blessings and contentment. How grateful I am that when my daughter feels at war with the whole world, Your will takes up her cause, helping her to overcome conflict and reconcile with others.
For all that Your names mean, I praise You and worship You, Lord. Our family testifies that You do live up to all Your names!
Amen

January in Review

The weather turned cold for a bit, so we bundled up for a few pictures.
Painting with big sissie...
Trip to the Animal Kingdom

Luke helped husk the corn for dinner... but really wanted to eat it before it was cooked. He had a hard time understanding why it needed to be cooked first.
Luke creates a mask with a pair of tongs.

Luke and Emily enjoy an evening where Emily pulled Luke across the kitchen floor. It was lots of fun and a great way to delay bedtime!

Boldness - Emily Receives a Character Award Honoring Her Boldness for Christ

Emily's teachers described her as:

Possessing commitment to know the truth and having willingness to stand up for what is right. During Bible and Circle time she asks good questions and searches for a deeper meaning. She knows and understands the safety rules on the playground and in the classroom and does not bend or stretch the rules, nor does she look for exceptions. She stands up for what is right even if she is doing it alone. When problems arise, she can be trusted to retell circumstances with honesty and fairness. She works with teachers and fellow students to find the trust and determine the right solution. She has a clear voice for truth and is a reminder that boldness comes from knowing God and being ready to stand up for what is right in the world.

Psalms 86:11 was chosen to describe Emily. It says,

"Teach me your way oh Lord, and I will walk in your truth; Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear you name."

We're proud of you Emily!!!! (Love, Mom and Dad)

Luke is our little CopyCat!

He likes to mimic everything that we do... and it gets really funny and really scary at times. He truly does not know what all of his limitations are just yet. :-) Our family favorite is when he prays at the dinner table.

What else has the little man figured out?

*He's figured out how to catapolt objects, helping them fly through the air from one side of the house to the other through the use of a ruler, stick, pen/pencil, screw driver, etc.

*He loves to undress himself, setting new fashion statements when he is only partially successful. (You dare not try and fix it either.)

*He hasn't figured out how to get his shoes on his own feet just yet (without help), so he will give up and put Emily's on and then say his good byes to mommy and daddy and try to walk out the door. (He hasn't been repeatedly successful with getting out the door.)

*He loves to push doors shut and then lock them (when on the inside). He can't figure out how to unlock them or turn the knob enough to actually get back out the door.

*He likes to push the 'restart' button on the computer because it's within his reach and he gets a response from the computer after each push.

*He has redeveloped a fascination with throwing and dropping food when at the dinner table. It's really frustrating for mommy.

*He loves to figure out how things work, or what little pieces make things... and ends up breaking a lot of items around the house. Ahhh!

*He's really into cause and effect experiments. (A little mad scientist???)

*He has the most deathly screech when his sister touches him (and he doesn't want to be touched). It's making it difficult to take them both to stores and restaurants for the time being. She can't help herself but poke and prod until she gets the 'negative response.'

*He loves it when sissy will pull around the kitchen by his hands as though he's skiing on his knees on the kitchen floor. He's squeals with delight over that one.

*He is thrilled and oh so content when he finds a water puddle. (Oh my, my.)

*We're trying to untrain his recent behavior of pointing at Emily and yelling, "Bad, bad baby!" hoping to get a response from her. It's typically done when she's perfectly content and he has failed to get her to pay attention to him. Of course, this starts a fight as she defends herself. We try to counter with, "Luke, let's be a good baby" or "Let's be a good boy." He's not buying into our antics just yet. :-)

*He loves to make lots of monster noises.

*He has the sweetest little 'no' in response to nearly every question we ask him.

What else is new?

We joined a family from school at the movies yesterday to see the Veggie Tale's "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything." It was a lot of fun for all of us.

Emily is really enjoying ballet and we can already see a lot of improvement in her form and ability to carry out basic steps. She's quite graceful. We're really impressed.

Mom-Mom and Bob-Bob's visit

We think Luke took this one... Bob-Bob shares a story of Pooh's Big Adventure with the kids.
Emily shows mommy some things about her new book... Mommy's birthday at The Melting Pot is FUN!!!Playing with Bob-Bob in the back yard. Luke's new safari hat... from the actual African Safari!Luke finally got a chance to go up on stage at church and play daddy's drums! Mommy's Birthday ~ The Magic Kingdom ~ Disney World
